Knapp Mill WTW Project Update
RSE is proud to lead the delivery of a major modular upgrade of Knapp Mill WTW in Christchurch, delivering trusted and innovative water technology solutions for Bournemouth Water and South West Water.
This is part of a £85 million upgrade to Knapp Mill WTW, bringing new technology to deliver even cleaner, better-tasting, and more reliable drinking water to people across the region.
This is the second DfMA – Design for Modular Assembly ceramic membrane plant RSE is providing for South West Water, as sister plant to the 84MLD Alderney WTW ceramic membrane plant located in Bournemouth. Knapp Mill WTW is expected to be delivered at twice the speed of traditional projects, with 70 modular units being transported to site over only an 8-week period. The modular units are fabricated, assembled and tested off-site in our state-of-the-art RSE Production Facilities in Muir of Ord, before being transported to site for installation.
Key Programme Dates:
- Off-Site Steel Fabrication Start – September 24
- Off-Site Modular Assembly Start – January 25
- First Modular Unit Delivered to Site – June 25
- Final Modular Unit Delivery to Site – Scheduled August 25
The successful logistics programme requires meticulous logistical planning and involves securing strong collaboration with our client, tier 1 principal contractor and key subcontractors, GF Job and Stoddarts. The full delivery schedule ensures all relevant authorities and site teams have assurances as to exactly where each unit is located at any day or time.
At RSE, we pride ourselves on our team’s ability to deliver against our commitments, offering our clients security with programme and capital expenditure. This can all be achieved due to the strong foundations RSE has built.
By leveraging an offsite modular build approach, our teams have maximised programme efficiencies and driven market-leading safety and sustainability performance on the project.
We look forward to completing the transportation and installation phase of the Knapp Mill WTW project and progressing towards the energisation and commissioning stages.
