Meet Michael Edenborough,Technical Manager – Asset Management (England)
What was it about RSE that made you choose us?

What initially drew me to RSE was the company’s clear commitment to engineering excellence, paired with a strong social and environmental purpose.

Having worked across industries such as medical devices, defence systems, fuel cells, drones, and automotive design, I’ve always thrived on solving complex engineering challenges within collaborative teams. RSE’s mission to deliver critical infrastructure for water and wastewater treatment strongly aligned with that passion.

It’s rare to find a company where technical innovation goes hand-in-hand with real-world impact. At RSE, I saw a chance to apply and lead multidisciplinary design efforts in a way that directly supports public health and sustainability.

What aspects of the culture, team, or mission have stood out since you started?

Since joining RSE, what’s impressed me most is the open, team-oriented culture that spans across departments.

There’s a shared commitment to getting things right – from the design and engineering details all the way through to delivery. It’s a culture where people genuinely care about quality, safety, and the broader mission.

The passion for engineering is clear, but equally striking is the humility. People openly share knowledge, learn from one another, and are deeply invested in the team’s success. It’s a rewarding environment to be part of.

What excites you most about the future here, and how do you see yourself growing with us?

What excites me is the scale of opportunity ahead, both in the technical complexity of projects and in the company’s broader mission to support essential infrastructure.

RSE is in a unique position to lead the way in sustainable, integrated engineering solutions, and I see huge potential to apply design thinking, systems integration, and cross-disciplinary innovation to help realise that vision.

Personally, I’m eager to contribute by growing and mentoring technical teams, championing design excellence, and helping shape the next generation of engineering leaders within RSE.

What would you say to someone considering a career with RSE?

If you’re someone who loves engineering challenges, thrives on working with passionate people, and wants your work to make a meaningful difference, then RSE is the place for you.

There’s space here to learn, to contribute, and to grow. Whether you’re early in your career or bringing in specialist expertise, RSE values people who are curious, collaborative, and committed to quality.

It’s a company where engineering is respected and where you can be proud of the impact your work has.
