We are pleased to announce a strategic partnership between RSE and Biomatrix, aimed at delivering innovative nature-based solutions for sustainable water management.
Biomatrix specialises in designing and installing ecological water management systems, integrating natural processes to improve water quality, enhance biodiversity, and create sustainable, regenerative ecosystems in urban and rural environments.
RSE was initially selected as one of seven preferred bidders to deliver the multi-billion-pound contract, and it has now been awarded the ambitious project.
The Scottish Water Enterprise (“the Enterprise”) will be one of the most ambitious investment programmes ever undertaken by Scottish Water and will enhance both water and wastewater infrastructure between 2027 and 2033, with the potential to extend for another six years.
RSE is a trusted clean water technology company – developing market-leading products and services for purifying drinking water, recycling wastewater and cleaning water in industrial processes. RSE’s bases across the UK are pioneering new solutions for the water sector through offsite manufacture and a modular approach to water management technologies.
The collaboration is a natural fit as both companies, headquartered in Northeast Scotland, share a common focus on modular design, low-carbon recycled materials, and innovative solutions which protect and enhance water resources.
RSE’s accompanying equity investment in Biomatrix demonstrates a strong commitment to natural solutions and sustainable water treatment innovation, and integration of ecological and technological expertise.
This partnership with Biomatrix Water demonstrates RSE’s dedication to advancing sustainable water treatment solutions. Nature-based solutions are essential to achieving environmental objectives and, by incorporating Biomatrix’s expertise, we can deliver modular, scalable solutions that address storm overflows and enhance water ecosystems across the UK and internationally.
Steve Slessor, Chief Executive of RSE
“We are excited to collaborate with RSE to broaden our reach in delivering nature-based water management solutions. After several years of developing innovative approaches alongside RSE, formalising this partnership represents a natural progression as we work together to drive sustainable innovations that address environmental challenges, supporting water quality, biodiversity, and resilience in communities globally.”
“Partnering with our friends at RSE will enable us to better serve the water sector, continuing to grow our Forres-based company and providing new leadership opportunities for our team. Working with RSE’s network of 2,000 staff, we aim to deliver greater value and efficiency to our customers and to bring more water systems to life.”
